How do vehicle CPC Mail-In Repairs work?

The ECU Pro offers an expedited mail-in CPC4 repair service for vehicle trucks. To have your unit vehicle CPC4 repaired, simply remove the CPC ( time required +-15-30 minutes) and mail it to us. Our professional team will either test, repair, or clone your unit to a new unit.

In order to have your CPC repaired, tested, or cloned follow the steps below:

  1. Send your current CPC to us.
  2. We will run a full diagnostic test on your CPC and send you the report.
  3. A repair or replacement solution will be offered, which you can decide on.
  4. If the unit requires a repair or clone, we will deduct the testing fee from the remaining balance.

Our mail-in vehicle CPC4 repair service is 100% plug-and-play and doesn't require any additional coding.

      Vehicle CPC4 failure and repairs explained

      The Common Powertrain Controller (CPC) is a module used in vehicle with Detroit Diesel engines. The CPC is the interface between the Motor Control Module (MCM) and the vehicle electronics system, acting as a communication gateway.

      The role of the MCM is to determine and evaluate all the parameters required by the engine to function. The MCM calculates the load levels, ambient conditions and evaluates other sensors that the engine requires to function.

      The values determined by the MCM are relayed over a CAN interface to the rest of the vehicle. The CPC4 functions as the gateway for the MCM to replay the information which allows the operator to control the vehicle . The CPC unit accepts other analog and digital inputs as well from the throttle, ABS, EBM, cooler level, etc which is also required by the engine and operator.

      The CPC is an important gateway in the vehicle between a variety of modules. Once the CPC fails the communication between these modules is disrupted and the vehicle typically shuts down the throttle.

      CPC4 Failure on a vehicle can be identified by:

      • The vehicle engine does not want to start
      • CPC module not correctly identified
      • CPC hardware failure with SPN 609 FMI 12 fault code
      • Check engine light is on
      • ABS engine light due to failed CPC4 module
      • DEF engine light is on

      Once the vehicle CPC is repaired and reinstalled into the vehicle no additional programming is required. The vehicle will be 100% back to normal and the unit is 100% plug and play.

          • Can a CPC module be repaired?

          Yes, a CPC4 module can be repaired. Some CPC modules require a reball of the BGA and others require board-level repairs.

          When choosing a CPC repair service, always ensure that you choose a company that rebuilds the entire board and not just the BGA. Rebuilding the entire CPC takes much longer but the repair will last much longer.

          1. Testing of the CPC4 module for $199: This option includes a thorough diagnostic test of your CPC4 module to determine the root cause of the issue. Once the problem has been identified, our team of experienced technicians will provide you

          • What is a CPC module?

          The common powertrain controller (CPC) is a module that serves as a communication device between various modules in the truck. The CPC receives information from the other modules such as the MCM and ECM and calculates the power that the truck has to deliver if the throttle is pressed.

          If the CPC fails or detects an internal issue it shuts down the throttle as a safety feature.

          • What happens if my CPC is stolen?

          If your CPC has been stolen, The ECU Pro can offer you a rebuild replacement.

          • What are the common failure symptoms of a CPC?

          The most common failure symptom of a failed CPC is deal throttle. The CPC module relies on data from various modules. If the CPC fails or stops receiving data from the other modules, it shuts down the throttle. Another common failure symptom is an empty DEF gauge or if the CPC identifies as another module such as a CPC2.

          If you are experiencing any of the above issues, it is recommended to read the SPN codes on the CPC with a diagnostic tool such as DDDL or Diesel Laptop. Typical SPN codes that will indicate if a CPC has failed is:

          SPN 609 / FMI 12 - CPC hardware failure

          SPN 3510 / FMI 4 - Accelerator pedal supply voltage failed low

          SPN 91 / FMI 8 - Accelerator pedal signal 1 missing

          SPN 2623 / FMI 8 - Accelerator pedal signal 2 missing

          • How long does a CPC4 repair take?

          The length of the repair process will depend on the specific issue with your CPC4 module and the repair option you choose. Testing of the module typically takes a few hours, while repairs and replacements can take anywhere from a few days to a week. Our express 1-day repair option is available for those who need their truck back on the road as soon as possible.

            Thank you for your purchase. We hope you are happy with your purchase. However, if you are not completely satisfied with your purchase for any reason, you may return it to us for a full refund only. Please see below for more information on our return policy.

            Retruns

            All returns must be postmarked within fourteen (14) days of the purchase date. All returned items must be in new and unused condition, with all original tags and labels attached.

            You must return the items in their original package.

            You must include all accessories and user manuals that came in the same package.

            Where an item has been purchased as a part of a bundle of multiple items, all multiple items within that bundle must be returned.

            Please treat the items with care and return them in the condition that they were delivered to you.

            Replacement or refund can only be processed once we have received all the items to be returned.

            If you return items 1) that you are not entitled to return, 2) that are not in their original condition, 3) that are without proper or missing packaging, 4) with items missing from the return delivery, 5) without following our return instructions, or 6) have otherwise failed to exercise reasonable care when taking care of and returning items, we reserve the right either to reject your return and decline to refund or to deduct from those payments to be refunded to you reasonable repair or other similar direct costs that we have incurred, subject to applicable law.

            Warranty

            All items come with a warranty. The warranty does not include any labor associated with installation and/or removal of parts, key, and/or Locksmith fees. Buyer will not be reimbursed for any such fees--NO EXCEPTIONS. Buyer hereby acknowledges and agrees that the Seller's liability is limited to the price of the item sold and Seller is not liable for any damage and/or injury sustained those results from any item(s) sold by any entity operated by The ECU Pro, LLC and Buyer hereby now and forever relinquish seller from any such liability.

            Returns

            Electrical parts are tested prior to purchase and if returned, all units will be inspected for burnt components, physical damage, and water damage. Returns will be processed in the order received and may have a greater handling time than order processing. The warranty shall be void if an item is returned with any signs of (a) burnt components (b)physical and/or water damage (c)misuse, abuse, modifications, opened, tampered with, and/or used for any purpose not originally intended (d)vehicle is involved in a collision or (e)security seal is removed, broken and/or damaged.
